Las Vegas, New Mexico is a prominent city in San Miguel County, New Mexico, United States. Long back, there were two separate towns, West Las Vegas ("Old Town") and East Las Vegas ("New Town") in place of Las Vegas and was separated by Gallinas River. Las Vegas, New Mexico was founded by the Mexican settlers in 1835. It is located in the Eastern plains, near the bottom region of Sangre de Cristo Mountains.

Citizens Committee for Historic Preservation was formed in Las Vegas, New Mexico in the year 1977, to encourage preservation of the historic resources of Las Vegas and San Miguel County, which has made 918 historic structures to survive till date. Las Vegas Citizens' Committee for Historic Preservation (CCHP) was also organized to educate the people regarding the cultural heritage of these monuments as these monuments play an important role towards the culture, infrastructure and future of Las Vegas, New Mexico.
